Happy new year!

Just celebrated new year in agra near the taj mahal. Happy new year to all!

Agra

Happy New Years eve! We made our 6am train and arrived in Agra. Interesting watching the countryside fly by and its as crowded if not more so than Delhi. Onto the taj mahal today!

New Delhi

After a pretty restful night and a nice breakfast in the home of friends somewhere in New Delhi, we met up with the group and headed out for the day. We hit a few main tourist spots such as India Gate (a WW1 memorial) and a beautiful tomb that was built for the first ruler of Delhi in the Mogul dynasty by his wife. Here's some pics of us flying in over Kabul and some of the sights in New Delhi.

Welcome to Delhi

So I arrived about an hour ago and I think the best way to sum it up so far is ... smog that hits you like a slap in the face; masses of people; no paying attention to lines, be them in the airport or on the road; crazy drivers; stop lights and lanes are more advisements; eyes that are still stinging from this smog.

Luckily I had friends pick me up at the airport and after a treacherous trip out to a house in New Delhi I'm going to catch some sleep and dream about what I can't imagine tomorrow will be like :)

Deutscheland

Landed in Frankfurt where the weather is awful but fortunately I'll be heading off in about an hour to Delhi. Got some sleep on the plane and while I'm not completely refreshed, it amounted to what I'd normally get on a bad night with Sydney. Nice to be in Europe again if only in an airport and for a brief time. It's interesting to look out the window as well and see about 50 airlines we never see in the states. Onto the longer flight and hopefully a warmer climate!
